Moving to Oxford, Told by Someone Who’s Always Called It Home

Hi, I’m Erika—born and raised right here in Oxford, Mississippi. I’ve watched this town grow while still holding onto the charm that makes it feel like home.

Whether you’re relocating for work, Ole Miss, retirement, or simply looking for a new place to put down roots, this guide is here to help. It’s filled with honest, practical advice from someone who’s lived here her entire life—not a visitor, not someone who just moved here, but a neighbor who knows Oxford inside and out.

From neighborhoods and schools to restaurants, local favorites, and what life is really like beyond football weekends, you’ll find everything you need to get to know Oxford before you make your move.

Welcome to my hometown—I can’t wait to show you around.

About

A Lafayette County Native

I grew up in Oxford, went to Lafayette High School, and later studied at Northwest Community College before training in cosmetology. I spent years behind the chair at three local salons, eventually buying and running one of my own for five years. When I got pregnant with my third daughter, I knew I wanted a change — so I became a real estate agent, and found the thing I actually love doing: helping families find their place here. These days I’m married to a guy who runs a cotton gin, and we’re raising three girls (11, 7, and 2) right here in the county we grew up loving.

Why I Built This Guide

Between showings and school pickup lines, I’ve talked to more families moving to Oxford than I can count. This site is where I put all that neighbor-to-neighbor advice in one place — real talk about neighborhoods, schools, costs, and what daily life actually feels like here.
